#53: Hardworking and Working Hard
I can’t think of a single other profession that works harder than teachers. Physically, there are hundreds, but add in the stress of dealing with students, parents, coworkers, and the school system, all while making and grading assignments? Yeah, each thing compounds, making it near impossible to catch a break.
Teacher salaries barely cover the supplies needed for the classroom, much less reflect the amount of work that goes into everything. In my state, the average salary for a third-grade teacher is $18! That’s what you make at the local grocery store working in the meat department. The only perks are the benefits, and even those aren’t that great. We need to do better.
