Mary Magdalene gets a high-five.
In 2013, an American visitor in Florence, Italy, was also to fault for destroying a piece of art. The 55-year-old American guy managed to snap the finger off the Virgin Mary statue in the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo, which was sculpted by Giovanni Ambrogio in the 15th century. To put it another way, this statue is invaluable.
He felt it would be a good idea to high-five Mary while admiring the monument, just to impress the youngsters back home. We don’t know how much it will cost to fix the finger, but we’re simply glad it’s only a finger.
