It is a marathon swimming challenge that encourages endurance swimmers from all over the globe to swim in seven different open water locations. North Channel, Cook Strait; Molokai Channel; Strait of Gibraltar; Catalina Channel; Tsugaru Strait; English Channel; and Tsukiyo Strait.
The Gibraltar Strait and the English Channel had previously been crossed by Walker, so this was the natural next step.
