Captured at maximum, bone-rattling volume across the chaotic Ragged Glory North American arena tour, Young deliberately overdriven and distorted the master recordings during the post-production tracking process. The overwhelming wall of feedback, electronic noise, and garage-rock slop operates as an intentional, artistic response to the geopolitical anxieties of the Gulf War era. The sonic violence proved that his studio records were significantly quieter and smaller entities.
