#17: Johannes Kepler’s Astrological Almanacs
The boundary between astronomy and astrology was not clean in Kepler’s world. Court patrons, cities, and paying readers expected forecasts, calendars, and interpretations of celestial events, and scholars often had to work within that culture to survive. Kepler produced astrological almanacs and prognostications while also developing the laws of planetary motion that would help transform science. To modern readers, that combination can seem contradictory, but in the early 17th century, it was part of the intellectual marketplace.
