#4: The Sundance Kid
Born Harry Longabaugh in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, in 1870, the Sundance Kid earned his nickname after a stint in jail in Sundance, Wyoming, for horse theft. He joined the Wild Bunch, gaining notoriety as their quickest draw and a formidable outlaw across the Rocky Mountains in the 1880s and ’90s. Alongside Butch Cassidy and Etta Place, Sundance eventually set up ranching in Argentina before returning to a life of crime. The most accepted story is that he died in 1909, cornered and mortally wounded at the Concordia Tin Mines in Bolivia, though some believe he slipped away to anonymity.
