Some movies from the 1960s were massive hits on paper but not exactly hits in people’s living rooms. Baby Boomers might have tried to love them, sitting through hours of singing, sword fights, and serious faces, but the magic just wasn’t there. Sure, these films looked gorgeous and had big stars, but many ended up feeling long, stuffy, or plain confusing. Whether they were old-school musicals that overstayed their welcome or historical dramas that dragged on forever, these are the ’60s movies Boomers wanted to love but secretly hated watching.
#1: Cleopatra (1963)
Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton’s real-life romance couldn’t save Cleopatra from its bloated runtime and endless drama. Audiences were dazzled by the costumes and sets, but quickly lost interest as the story dragged on and on.

The film became infamous for nearly bankrupting its studio. Despite its huge budget and beautiful visuals, many Baby Boomers found it too slow, too long, and too serious to enjoy more than once.
