#17: Equestrian long jump pushed horse and rider to unusual limits
At the 1900 Games, equestrian long jump challenged horses to leap the greatest horizontal distance. It tested a different skill set than traditional show jumping. The event was difficult to regulate and raised concerns about safety and fairness. It did not continue beyond its initial appearance.
