Will it ever be discovered?
That’s an excellent question. Mark Honigsbaum, an explorer who attempted to find the Inca riches, never discovered it. He said, “We’re dealing with the line between reality and fiction. We know Atahualpa’s treasure existed because it was mentioned in the Spanish chronicle, and a vast caravan of gold was on its way from Ecuador. “However, in my opinion, this gold was unquestionably retrieved centuries ago,” he stated.
“If not, and it’s still there,” he said, “I suppose it’s gone forever because those mountains are so enormous and inaccessible that it’s like hunting for a needle in a haystack.” Unfortunately for Honigsbaum, he might have become a very wealthy guy.
