#15: Eleanor Ritchey Left Millions To Rescue Dogs
Oil heiress Eleanor Ritchey dedicated much of her life to caring for stray dogs at her Texas ranch. When she died in the 1960s, she left millions in trust for more than 150 rescued animals. Her unusual decision became one of the earliest famous examples of enormous fortunes being directed toward pets.
