#7: The Burial Site
Before Stonehenge became the image we recognize today, the site was used as a cremation cemetery for several hundred years. English Heritage describes the first monument as a circular earthwork enclosure used for cremation burials. That changes the emotional temperature of the place. It was not only a sunny solstice postcard or a tourist backdrop. It was also connected to death, memory, and ancestors, which gives all those stones a quieter, heavier presence.
