#9: The Acoustic Properties
Stonehenge may have sounded as impressive as it looked. A 2020 acoustic modeling study found that the stones would have amplified speech and created stronger reverberation inside the monument than the ruined structure does today. That does not prove exactly what rituals happened there, but it suggests sound mattered. Voices, chants, music, or ceremonies inside the stone circle may have felt enclosed and intensified. Ancient architecture, apparently, also knew how to work the room.
