#36: The Burial Place of Genghis Khan
Even though we live within a different world order than what existed thousands of years ago, we find interest in learning about how the many tribes and empires did things before we arrived. And whilst we might not agree with their somewhat barbaric practices, we can always learn from different things throughout history. The first emperor of the Mongol Empire, Genghis Khan, is known to scholars as one of the most impressive and ruthless emperors ever to live. His impressive military moves allowed him to gain access to many different countries all over the world.
Whilst his practices would not be accepted in today’s day and age, they were acceptable and impressive at the time. One might think that someone of such great importance would have a cult following at his gravesite… But Genghis Khan wanted to be buried without any signs or markings as to where his burial site was. Legend has it that all those involved with his burial were killed after they finished their mission, so no living person would ever know where to find him. Many have searched for this great man’s burial site throughout the ages, but they have all been unsuccessful.
