Mischievous youth
The group of teen boys were all friends who went to the same high school in Yorkshire. They were known around town as being mischievous youths that would often start problems and find themselves in the middle of trouble. Needless to say, they were not the most respectful group of young men.
In Yorkshire, there was not much entertainment for young people, so oftentimes kids would just walk around the city center until they got bored. Other young people who wanted more excitement would leave for a larger city or get into trouble in their own hometown. These boys just had too much pent-up energy for their own good.
