#16: Arsinoe IV of Egypt – About 15 to 18 years old
Arsinoe IV was the younger sister of the famous Cleopatra VII, and she had her own royal ambitions. During the Alexandrian civil war in 48–47 BC, the Egyptian army declared the teenager Arsinoe queen. She ruled alongside her brother, Ptolemy XIII, and actively led the opposition against her sister and her powerful Roman ally, Julius Caesar. For a brief moment, Arsinoe was a rival queen, fighting for control of Egypt. But her gamble failed. Caesar’s forces defeated her army and captured her. She was famously paraded through Rome in chains as a prisoner of war.
