#17: The Buzzword Rebrand
Corporate language is never more creative than when something bad is happening. Layoffs become “right-sizing.” Cuts become “efficiency initiatives.” Chaos becomes an “organizational shift.” Losing people becomes “workforce optimization,” as if humans were spreadsheet cells with LinkedIn profiles. The buzzword rebrand exists to soften impact, protect leadership, and make painful decisions sound like strategy. Workers understand the translation instantly. If the email says “exciting transformation,” update your résumé.
