#18: Feeling Their Feelings
We tend to dismiss children’s thoughts and feelings. While we don’t do it maliciously, our society has engrained the idea that the thoughts and feelings of adults are way more valid than those of small children. But there’s no reason that would be true. If anything, kids probably feel things in a stronger way than any adult ever could.

Think about it. Kids experience new things, thoughts, and emotions for the first time almost every single day. That’s a lot for someone to handle. Adults have felt pretty much every feeling there is to feel, and they forget how intense their “firsts” were. Their first time falling in love, being betrayed by a friend, and discovering that their parents are only human are just a few examples of intense “firsts.” We should give kids more credit and grace.
