#21: The Subway Decline
Subway started as a local sandwich shop in 1965 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Since that fateful store, the company has become ubiquitous, offering customizable, not-so-good sandwiches that are relatively affordable. But is it just us, or did their sandwiches used to taste way better? As it turns out, it’s not just us.
Many people have noticed that the quality of Subway sandwiches has decreased in recent years. The fast-food chain still has fans. But many diehards have been disillusioned with skimpier servings, bad press, and cheaper-quality ingredients. Subway probably isn’t going out of business anytime soon, but it’s disappointing when you’re foot-long and isn’t as satisfying as you want it to be.
