#22: It’s An Impulse
We’ve all gotten that inexplicable feeling that we’re being watched. It’s probably happened multiple times throughout your life. You turn around or look up, only to notice a stranger quickly averting their eyes or someone you know looking right into your soul from across the room. Your intuition was correct! But why do we get this strange feeling whenever someone’s watching us?

No, it’s not a sixth sense or supernatural intervention. Our brains are wired to pick up on cues, whether we consciously realize it or not. Humans have a sophisticated “gaze-detection” ability that helps us determine where other people are looking. Social cues, the positioning of someone’s body, and our peripheral vision help our brains determine when someone is looking directly at us.
