#27: Taking You For a Ride
It’s illegal for an employer to discriminate against a potential hire based on race, religion, gender, age, or disability. But does it still happen? The truth is: maybe. Unfortunately, bias still exists in hiring practices and workplaces, whether it’s unconscious or not. Thankfully, there are laws in place to combat this.
Whenever a new hire is hired at a company, they have to fill out an I-9 form. This form requires two forms of official identification, such as a driver’s license, passport, or birth certificate. In some states, like California, it’s illegal to specifically require a driver’s license as the sole form of identification for an I-9. As a potential employee, it’s important to know your rights!
