#40: The Cost of Health
It’s a common truth that eating fresh, healthy, and organic foods is much more expensive in the United States than eating processed foods. These processed foods, while engineered to taste delicious, usually don’t hold that much nutritional value. So, it’s harder for lower-income households to have a well-balanced diet full of fresh fruits, veggies, and proteins.

It’s upsetting but true. Food production somehow costs way less when it comes to processed, high-calorie foods. Maybe the system is engineered to be that way. If people are fed and happy, they’re less likely to protest other offenses enacted by the powers that be. If you’ve ever been “hangry,” you know that’s all too true.
