#10: Unsupervised Kids Playing Outdoors
This next bygone norm really boils down to trust. The truth of the matter is that parents used to have greater trust in their communities when they allowed their children to roam the streets, the parks, and the woods without supervision. “It takes a village” really seemed to ring true in the 1960s. Parents also had greater trust in their kids to make good decisions and to be back home by sunset. Today, helicopter parenting seems to be the new norm, directly contrasting the freedom that we enjoyed as kids in the 1960s!
