#19: Phone Numbers Without Area Codes
This last norm on our list really makes us aware that there actually were some things from the 1960s that made the decade seem like a simpler time. Because fewer people in the country had access to phones, fewer numbers were given out. All you needed to do in order to reach your friend, your mom, or your plumber was to dial 5-7 digits on your rotary phone, and you were done. Area codes were only needed to dial long distances, which was relatively uncommon and expensive. If you tried to dial a telephone without an area code today, you’ll be left scratching your head!
