#2: No Seatbelts in Cars
It’s strange to think that not only were seatbelts mandatory in the 1960s, but many vehicles came out of the factory without them! We surmise that research on crash safety wasn’t as widespread back then, though driving in cars was still a dangerous practice. Almost all of us can remember piling into a friend’s car without even a thought of safety. It was even common practice for kids to sit on their parents’ laps or to crawl around in the back of the station wagon. Don’t even get us started on the lack of child seats!
