#4: Casual Littering
Call it a national bad habit, but strewing about litter was shockingly commonplace in the 1960s and prior. It wasn’t until environmental awareness causes took root in the 1970s that campaigns like “Keep America Beautiful” began to educate as well as crack down on “trashy” inclinations. It wouldn’t be out of the ordinary to see trash left behind in a park after a picnic or someone throwing garbage out of the car window on the highway. Today, you can expect to pay hundreds of dollars in fines if you’re caught dirtying our natural environment!
