#7: Driving Under the Influence
It’s not that people were better able to handle their alcohol in the 1960s or that cars were less likely to crash when an intoxicated driver got behind the wheel. It’s just that people back then didn’t seem to care as much about the consequences of drinking and driving! Devoid of all the social stigmas that driving under the influence has today, driving after having a few or more drinks was considered a normal practice. It wasn’t until later that civilians and government agencies teamed up to eradicate the widespread normalcy of this dangerous practice.
