#12: Southern-Style Homecomings
Like most things in the South, the annual Homecoming tradition was an extravagant affair! From decorous floats to big-haired, sash-wearing Homecoming Queens, this beloved event signaled the start of the school year and harvest season. A sight to behold, the Homecoming Queen often donned a ball gown with a hoop skirt–a far cry from the more casual nature of formal dresses in the 1970s!
