
Gen Z, or “Zoomers”, just don’t get it. They grew up with smartphones, social media, and Netflix. To them, things like landlines, VCRs, and boy bands seem archaic. But every ‘90s child will tell you that life was cooler when we got our fashion cues from the Fresh Prince of Belair and kept our Beanie Babies in pristine condition so we could sell our collection and retire early. Sure, Zoomers may look back on the ‘90s and laugh at our primitive ways, but there are plenty of things they are getting all wrong about the last decade of the last century.
#1: ’90s Fashion Wasn’t “Aesthetic,” It Was Just What We Had
While Zoomers fret about their ‘aesthetic” – the vibe they are giving off by their choice of clothing, hairstyle, and accessories – folks in the ‘90s embraced eclectic looks. That’s fancy talk for just wearing what you had. Some days, you may look like an extra on the set of Saved by the Bell. On other days, you could be one of the characters in The Sandlot.
