When you are 13 years old, all you want to do is to hang out with your friends, understand things about the world and have a little bit of privacy. 13 is a hard year to navigate for any boy or girl, but it can be made even more difficult without a little bit of privacy… While some people might see this as a roadblock, Luke Thill saw it as an opportunity to delve deep into a passion project while gaining some independence and responsibility. We know what you’re thinking… “What does a 13-year-old know about building a house”? But after much trial, error, and determination, Luke found himself a homeowner with a bit of building experience. Not only is this impressive in and of itself, but Luke also built this house with a very tight budget and recycled materials…

#1: The Perfect Summer Break Activity
Meet Luke Thill, the young boy behind this incredible 89-square-foot home. Considering that most people don’t have the capacity, the skill, or the patience to do what this young man did at the age of 13, it is extremely impressive, to say the least. And even though it can be fun lazing around all summer long, Luke was looking to do something a little more challenging.

Even though he had no building expertise, he did what any teenager would do, turned to the internet for help. In an interview with ABC, Luke said, “I was just on YouTube looking around and came across a tiny house idea, and then that spiraled into looking at almost every YouTube video there is.” It is safe to say that Luke is very much a go-getter.
