Mother-to-be Musya
Alice described all she witnessed to the veterinarian. The vet laughed her off, that is, until he opened the package and saw for himself. “I’ve never seen anything like this,” he grinned.
After examining Musya and her young, the vet separated the kittens from the hedgehogs and put them in separate boxes before leaving the room with Alice. However, it was only upon their return that they observed something extraordinary and frightening.
A mother’s love
Musya was not going to allow one set of her offspring to get affection while the other remained unloved. As a result, she and her offspring had relocated to the box with the hedgehogs. She sat there beaming with delight as all her children huddled around her for warmth.
Even though neither Musya nor the baby hedgehogs seemed to be in agony, Alice and the veterinarian feared that the hedgehogs were inflicting harm on them. If anything, it seemed as if Musya had just joined a new family – and a large one at that!
