#10: Witchcraft — Robert Smith
Cy Coleman and Carolyn Leigh wrote this for Sinatra’s 1957 single, and the song was nominated for four Grammy Awards at the first Grammy ceremony in 1959. Robert Smith recorded his version for Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie Unleashed! companion album in 2012, giving it the woozy, slightly gothic treatment that the word “witchcraft” arguably always deserved but Sinatra’s swinging arrangement had cheerfully declined to provide. Smith added scatting, which nobody predicted and which worked considerably better than it had any right to.
