The internet is a wonderful thing. It’s a great source of information, a platform for exchanging ideas, and a path forward for humanity that enables us to constantly innovate, bettering ourselves as individuals and as a society. It’s also a cesspool of the worst and weirdest human interactions, publicly displayed for all. This is one of the wonders that the greatest invention of all time provides us – the ability to look around at our fellow human beings in all their stupidity and witness their most ridiculous interactions – the terrible comments and the great comebacks. #1: Generational Conflict
One large societal conflict that plays out so explicitly on social media is the battle between the generations for cultural hegemony, intellectual superiority, and dominance. The Boomers, Gen Y, and Gen Z are all pitted against each other for control (and the Xers disappear).
Yet one thing that seems to escape the attention of members of the older generations routinely is their responsibility for making their younger rivals turn out the way they did. So, in reality, any intergenerational conflict is a conflict between the world they lived in and the one they created.
