#16: Bad Weather On Inauguration Day Might Have Contributed to William Henry Harrison’s Death (1841)
On a cold and windy day, Harrison delivered the longest inaugural address in history—8,445 words—without wearing a coat, hat, or gloves. Despite the harsh weather, Harrison attended three celebrations that night, but developed a cold three weeks later, which worsened into pneumonia. Despite medical treatment, he died on April 4, making his presidency the shortest in U.S. history at just 31 days.
