#9: Scientists Spent Billions Studying Power Lines and Cancer

In the late 1980s, fears spread that electromagnetic fields from power lines could cause cancer. Governments funded huge studies across several countries to investigate the claims. After years of research, scientists found no convincing evidence linking ordinary power lines to cancer. Critics later argued the panic ignored basic physics from the beginning.
