#19: The Crowded Beaches of Miami
The ocean is right there, yet much of a beach day is spent outside it. Visitors walk across hot sand, arrange chairs, apply sunscreen, wait for food, and remain exposed while sunlight reflects from both water and pale surfaces. White sand can substantially increase ultraviolet exposure, and the heat index reported in forecasts assumes shade rather than a bright shoreline. South Florida summers also bring high dew points, frequent showers, and nights that remain warm.
