#20: Saguaro National Park in Arizona
Near sunset, the giant cacti become silhouettes, and the Sonoran Desert finally begins to soften. That is when summer visitors understand why this park surrounds Tucson in two separate districts rather than presenting one central attraction. Scenic loop drives allow people to see extensive cactus forests with limited walking, while short trails can be saved for the first or last light of day. Deeper into summer, temperatures typically range from the mid-90s into the low 110s, and exposed routes offer little dependable shelter. The $25 vehicle pass lasts seven days and covers both the Tucson Mountain District in the west and the Rincon Mountain District in the east.
