Treasure hunts that have claimed a number of lives

During the gold rush resurgence of the 1970s and 80s, treasure hunters traveled to the Klamath River in Northern California. Armed with heavy suction dredges, these divers faced the icy, unpredictable whitewater rapids. The river’s strong undercurrents created a challenging environment where divers could easily become trapped or lose their air supply beneath massive boulders. Over the years, tragic drowning incidents happened regularly.
