#20: Herbert Hoover
He might have the same name synonymous with a famous vacuum cleaner, but Herbert Hoover is famous in his own right. The 31st president of the United States served the nation from 1923-1933 and had already achieved success worldwide as a mining engineer. He was also known as the “Great Humanitarian after he became known as the person who was responsible for feeding Europeans during World War I.
Hoover might have been a big cigar smoker, but that doesn’t mean he was lenient when it came to alcohol consumption… President during the Prohibition period, he was a big fan of the Era of No Happy Hours. However, it was said that he would go to the Belgian embassy to legally enjoy a martini on “foreign soil.” We’re not sure how it’s fair that he got a happy hour drink while no one else did…
