A Life-Changing Day
Nadya Suleman began her day at work on September 18, 1999, just as she had done on each and every other morning prior to that date. She had no idea that day would mark a turning point in her life that would affect her forever. Nadya was quick to put a stop to the riot that was started around noon by approximately twenty of the patients who were being treated at the facility.
As a result of the commotion that ensued, one of the patients tipped over a wooden desk, and it struck Nadya in the back. Because of this, Nadya ended up in the hospital with a serious herniated disc injury, which made it impossible for her to continue working. She was awarded compensation in the amount of approximately 170,000 dollars, which helped her get by for a while, but she would have to live with the effects of the injury for the rest of her life.
