Tigers with Sharp Teeth
Often referred to as cave lions, these tigers used to roam freely across much of the circumpolar north and south. In Yakutia, Siberia, some Russian scientists recently discovered some unusual specimens. These animals were cubs, just like the woolly Rhino. The woolly Rhino was similarly well-preserved, as was the case with these animals, which were still covered in hair and fur.
The sabretooth tigers of the last ice age were extinct around 10,000 years ago. Scientists believe that global warming and human hunting were both factors in this. Another specimen was discovered off the coast of the United Kingdom, weighing approximately 881 lbs. Mastodons and other ice age creatures have been found in these same frigid waters.
