The Birch Basket
A well-preserved birch basket was also discovered in one of these patches. Finding the basket does not solve any mysteries, but it does shed light on who made it and what they used it for. This 650-year-old basket was discovered in 2003. There were sloped edges and a 2.3-inch high rim on this cup.
It measured 9.8 inches wide. This basket’s weave pattern reveals the ingenuity and creativity of the tribe that made it. It was made out of nothing but wood, and no plant material was used in the process. According to scientists, it’s possible that the basket was used to collect fruit.
