Willow Bow
The willow bow is another weapon scientists have discovered in these ice patches that are receding. Elk and reindeer were hunted with this willow-carved bow. A 340-year-old bow has been discovered. Tom Andrews discovered this bow as one of the first artifacts, an ice patch archaeologist. Brilliant and an insightful discovery!
Andrews had to raise funds for the expedition before he could begin searching for the bow. Support from local and national funders was necessary at first. Aerial photographs of the ice patches were also necessary. Finally, it required the use of a helicopter to fly to the most promising locations.
