A Time Capsule
An arrowhead dating back more than 3,000 years was discovered by a different team of Mongolian archaeologists while they were conducting research in an area well-known for its herds of reindeer. The discovery was unique in that the ancient weapon had been preserved in its entirety thanks to the ice.
The preserved arrowhead confirmed scientists’ theories about how Mongolian Steppe tribes painted their arrowheads. Glacial archaeology is a relatively new field of study that sheds light on the origins of human civilization.
