Jackie Robinson’s 1949 season remains one of the greatest in baseball history, earning him the National League MVP Award. During the offseason, however, he worked at an appliance store in Queens selling television sets. With television ownership expanding rapidly after World War II, Robinson proved to be an effective salesman.
