#5: Waite Hoyt Played Basketball and Worked as a Mortician
Waite Hoyt, a star pitcher during baseball’s early twentieth century, had an unusual collection of side careers. Besides playing semi-professional basketball and exhibiting his paintings, he worked in the funeral business. Hoyt became so involved that he eventually opened his own funeral home and earned the nickname The Merry Mortician.
