#25: More Reasons to Hate Mondays
This cute vintage mug featuring the beloved comic strip cat Garfield seems perfectly innocent, but it’s become infamous on the Internet in recent years due to its dark secret. It was released in the 1970s as a promotional item for McDonald’s and was reasonably popular at the time. So what’s so special about it? Unfortunately, it’s not in this good of condition because it’s some priceless artifact – it’s probably (hopefully) not been used very often.

That’s because the paint used to create the comic strip on the outside of the mug contains about 4-9% lead by weight, which is roughly 8-18 times more than the legally permissible percentage for that time period (only .5%). We’re thinking maybe this thrifter should put the glass down… and probably put it away
