White In Funerals
You’re on a sightseeing tour of an Indian city with your host one morning when you encounter a procession in which everyone is dressed in beautiful white like a themed wedding, except that they look sad and are singing sad hymns. Some of them are crying. Your host tells you it’s a funeral!
Well, they don’t wear black at funerals as many people do across the world, at least those we know. They wear white instead, which is their color of mourning. This can confuse you if you’re new to India. You could be making merry at a funeral thinking it is a public wedding.
