Something To Eat For Everyone
The Golden Temple is not just an icon of faith or an attractive landmark of Amritsar city in Punjab state of India, it is also a place where the hungry can get quality and delicious Indian food for free at the temple’s langar or free kitchen, rubbishing the adage that nothing is for free.
The Langar which finds its roots in one of the teachings of Sikhism (work, pray, and share with others whatever you earn) has even helped the UN achieve its ‘zero hunger’ goal given that India is home to over 200 million hungry people according to the Global Hunger Index ranking of 2017.
