Tower With A Bizarre Purpose
You would think this is just another ancient ruin in some desert if you saw it for the first time, but it’s more than that. It serves a bizarre purpose to followers of Zoroastrianism, a religion with a significant following in India and even Iran where its followers originally came from.
Earth and fire are sacred according to them, so they avoid burying or cremating the dead and instead take the bodies up these Towers of Silence as they are called and left there to be taken care of by vultures and other birds that feed on corpses. Unsettling, isn’t it?
