Jim Bishop began building his castle in the Colorado mountains as a personal project in the 1960s and never really stopped. Using stones gathered from the land, he erected towers, bridges, and even a functioning fire-breathing dragon. The structure remains unfinished in spirit, constantly evolving. It reflects both independence and a resistance to authority that has defined Bishop’s life.
